We believe in a future
WHERE EVERYONE HAS ACCESS
to fresh food and a healthy lifestyle.

Who We Are

Green of Hearts is a nonprofit organization based in Atlanta, Georgia. We work with individuals and communities to transform usable land parcels of any size, shape, and location to create gardens that offer life-sustaining nourishment where such foods are unobtainable.

The benefits of community gardening extend well past the nutrition of fresh produce.

Community gardens...

- Increase a sense of community ownership and stewardship

- Foster community spirit

- Improve self-sufficiency

- Reduce obesity

- Provide nutritional foods often unavailable to low income families

- Reduce stress through physical activity

- Improve property values

Our Mission

Green of Hearts’ mission is to alleviate societal issues concerning malnutrition, hunger, and obesity within populations at risk by establishing gardens – and a mindset - wherever there is an open space and a need. This mission comes from a set of core beliefs that we hold very dear:

  • We believe everything we need to sustain a healthy body, mind, and spirit is under our feet, over our heads, and all around us.
  • We believe it is a basic human right to have access to food that feeds our bodies and our souls.
  • We believe it is a basic human instinct to desire to provide that basic right to those in need.

Our Vision

At Green of Hearts, we envision healthy gardens that offer fresh produce all over the USA. With the help of beneficiaries, volunteers, and members of the community, Green of Hearts will work to create sustainable green food banks where families and individuals at risk can obtain fresh produce – no questions asked. When appropriate and where possible, Green of Hearts will educate beneficiaries on the benefits of a healthy, whole food, plant-based diet.

How it Works

Green of Hearts works with individuals and communities to transform usable land parcels of any size, shape, and location to create gardens that offer life-sustaining nourishment where these foods are unavailable.

We offer three types of community programs: Senior Horticulture Education, Guided Community Practice, and Immersive Community Support. You can learn about all three of these programs by clicking here.
